Franklin county March of Dimes chairman Ace Beckstead said residents will be greeted by a girl selling balloons when they come to Preston Saturday. Future Homemakers of America will join with March of Dimes volunteers to raise funds for infantile paralysis and birth defects. Beckstead noted a national goal of 65 million dollars and urged every person to contribute about 50 cents. He contrasted the vaccine discovery cost of 35 cents per person with the ongoing need to fund the march of Dimes fight.

Franklin county feed lot tour set for January 26
The annual Franklin county feed lot tour will be held Monday January 26 starting at 10 30 a m. The tour begins in the parking lot behind the courthouse and visits beef cattle and sheep feed lots to study methods and results. At 1 30 p m the group will meet in the county commissioners room Wade Wells extension livestock specialist from Boise will review pelleted rations for cattle and sheep. All livestock operators are invited to attend the tour or the meeting or both per County Agent Daniel Roberts.
