The project cost about 9500 dollars and the area adds roughly 200000 in valuation with taxes totaling 69000 received from Bannock County.

Mrs Martha Stephens Funk 42 wife of Marlowe Funk county assessor died at the local hospital after a long illness. She was born January 23 1946 in Preston to Alfred W and Margaret Stephens and married October 4 1927 in Logan. Survived by husband two daughters her mother seven siblings and other relatives. Funeral services planned at Preston funeral and burial in Preston Cemetery under Webb-Hendricks mortuary arrangement.

Five Year Old Boy Struck By Truck In City Intersection
Reed Carlson, five, son of Mr and Mrs A G Carlson, was struck Friday by a Garrett freight truck at the Oneida and 2nd E street intersection. He rode a tricycle as the truck driven by Keith Hirschi turned south. he was dragged about 25 feet on the bumper, suffering head and ear cuts from shattered headlight glass. The tricycle was demolished. Hirschi took the boy to the hospital for stitches and X rays before he was released to his parents. Police Chief Durwood Hull and Sgt Harold Campbell investigated the accident.

Rat Eradication Program Planned for County Meeting
The county rat eradication program will open with a meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday January 28 in the courthouse basement. Man of Year Named by Jaycees Here Last Night
Max Norton a Preston businessman was named the Man of the Year at a Jaycee banquet in the courthouse. Dr. Leo Hawkes announced the winner, who was kept secret until the ceremony, and Norton was elected Jaycees president for the coming year with Herman Richards as vice president Don Elwell as second vice president and Tom Albaugh as secretary. Norton has led local Jaycee activities and chaired the state convention recreation committee and the Fourth of July celebration.

Preston FFA boys won high honors at the southern Idaho seed and crop judging contest in Pocatello, scoring 274.3 out of 300 as Midway took second with 268.3 and Acona third with 266.4. Team members Theo Taylor Jean J Smith and Dayle Dunkley identified 31 weed seeds and plants and 19 crop seeds and plants, while Kenneth Klaphammer of Midway led individuals with 96 points and Theo Taylor 95.3.
