Auto license plates near 700 sold in county
Nearly 700 1948 license plates have been issued since sales began January 2 at the county assessor office. Assessor Marlowe Funk warns no numbers under 900 will be held after January 24 and urges applicants seeking specific numbers between one and 700 to secure plates before that date. Unclaimed numbers on January 24 will be reallocated to others to complete first month’s sales in numerical order.

Funeral set for Gorringe in Preston Friday
Mrs. Ivy Foulger Gorringe 57 died at home in Preston after an extended illness. Born in Salt Lake City August 20 1890 she married Edward H. Gorringe in 1911 and moved to Preston ten years ago. Surviving are her husband two daughters Florence Rasmussen and Marian Swainston two grandchildren two brothers and one sister. Friends may call at Larkins funeral home this evening and Friday until services.

New Band Uniform Drive Led by Preston High Parents
A Preston high school band uniform drive was launched by the school patrons group led by Mrs. Milo Hobbs who was named president. Auraul Christensert and Mrs. Carl Jones are vice presidents with Mrs. Edward Maughan as secretary and Mrs. D Ariel Nash as treasurer. A parade and demonstration by the band under Lynn Bright will open the fundraising drive through the business district.
