Thomas Heath of Preston urged swift action and a reciprocal agreement to ease border county commerce. Larger Program Of Weed Control Sought Here
Franklin County Farm Bureau directors and local chairmen met January 7 at the courthouse to gauge farmer support for an expanded weed control program. They cited rapid spread of noxious weeds including Canadian thistle and proposed community meetings in January and February to explain the weed law and collect input. A county weed committee would be formed to study the problem and advise the county commissioners on needed actions. Immediate steps would target curbing weed spread from water sheds and rights of way to farms.

Three day old boy Belnap son of Parley K and Merle Belnap died in an Ogden hospital late Sunday night. New Ice Rink To Open In Preston City Park Saturday
The city opens a new ice skating rink in Preston City Park near the opera house with night lighting. Hours Revised for Preston High Swim Pool Access
Public pool hours at Preston High will change next week to accommodate a new boy scout training course. The general public may swim Monday evenings 7 to 9 pm instead of Thursday. Scouts and groups will use the pool Thursday evenings and Saturdays from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, with separate sessions for girls 3 to 5 pm and boys.

Kenneth Cornish, 3 1/2, son of Mr and Mrs Burdett Cornish of Franklin, fell ill after influenza and was rushed to Preston Memorial hospital. Doctors feared polio and he was moved to Pocatalico then diagnosed with infantile paralysis and showing good response to treatment.

The Preston Indians defeated Blackfoot 47-33 on home court in the fifth district opener.
