Funeral services for Jeffrey Lynn Wickham Smith six month old son of Eld ridge M and JoRene Wickham Smith were held at Richards and Son mortuary Friday afternoon with Bishop Marlow Woodward in charge. Burial followed in the Franklin cemetery with grave dedication by Quinton Shumway.
Caterpillar Tractor Co. announces Peterson Tractor Service Inc of Logan will expand from three Utah counties to cover Box Elder Cache Rich Franklin Oneida and Bede Lake in Thalia and the southern region of Lincoln County Wyoming. Merrill Bud Peterson founder and Dale O Hutt former sales manager outline the expansion.

W. J. Fryer of the state income tax division and Spencer Condie deputy U S collector will follow January itineraries to assist income taxpayers. From Jan 21 to 31 they work Monday through Friday in Preston. They will be at Grace on January 10 and 11 at Grace Hardware.
Warren McEntire of Preston Route Two is promoted to first lieutenant in the U S Air Force. He is a navigator stationed at Harmon Air Force Base Newfoundland with wife Fawn Stephens and their baby. His parents Mr and Mrs Wells McEntire receive the news in a letter from Maj Jay W Stansbury praising his high standards.
Four Franklin youths including three from Weston and one from Preston head to Fort Douglas for pre induction physical examinations as part of county selective service. Names listed include Elmer R. Johnson Richard H. Magleby Ted E. Stedrs Orrin F. McKay Sune I. Lundbert Garth Geddes Gene L. Miehweg Blaine Olsen Claire V. Fisher Alton W. Buttars. The week of January 17 is noted for the processing.
William H Bell of Torrance California renews his subscription to The Preston Citizen from far away. He sends 3 dollars to support the Franklin county home paper as he keeps in touch with local news after more than five years away.
Plans are made for the annual Farm Bureau institute on January 21 at Oneida stake house. Speakers include Frank Gilbert J Reuben Clark and J Wendell Stucks. Mrs Elda Carlson and her chorus provide music. The afternoon session features Harry Knapp reports on the Chicago national convention and Lloyd Browning on departmental actions. Mildred Haberly and Varica Smith will chair demonstrations on crop rotation budgets and meat preparation respectively.
The Franklin County chapter spent 3812.72 to aid four polio patients in 1951. Delmer Olson announced the 1951 financial report showing hospitalization costs covered for those unable to pay. The chapter raised 3913.60, with 50 percent kept for local services and 50 percent sent to national HQ.
Marion Morgan fire department employee completed a five week training course for firemen in Boise. He was sent to the school by city officials and spent Christmas and New Year at the University of Idaho with Dean Jensen.
Preston Indians, under coach Evan Sorenson, bring a 7 or 8 game win streak and senior leaders Crawford and Davis, plus freshman Charles, into the league opener against Blackfoot Brojicos in Pocatello. The Indians rely on defense and remade lineup while aiming to repeat last year’s strong district showing.
West Side High School basketball, led by a fast sharpshooting quintet, beat the Logan Grizzlies at Dayton Friday night for the Pirates second win of the season. Top scorers included Mc Dermott with 15 and Rasmusssen with 10.

The Idaho Employment Service announces Inez Hughes will be transferred to the Nampa office to replace Mrs Hughes who has assisted Thomas Boyle in the local office for three and a half years. Her original home was in Bets.
