Idaho Counties Face Federal Budget Burden Under Eisenhower Plan
Congressman Homer H. Budge reported that Idaho’s share of the proposed $77 billion federal budget would be 292,929 000 for 1959 based on a 1958 population of about 662,000 and a per capita burden of 442.29 dollars. Franklin county would pay 3,980,610 and Preston 1,769,150, with figures tied to the balanced budget as submitted. Budge warned Democrats may push higher federal spending, raising the burden on states and counties.
