Census figures show 99 stores in Franklin County 1954 sales

Preliminary 1954 census data from the Bureau of Census Department of Commerce lists 99 stores in Franklin County with total sales of 8 688 000. payroll and employee figures are given for the period, broken down by major business kinds including food, apparel, furniture, automotive, building materials, and other retail stores.

Central Jefferson move students to new high school wings

After a series of classroom changes last week the seventh and eighth grades moved from Jefferson to the second floor of the new high school. Central basements were cleared and third grade sections moved to Jefferson. The Nielsen gymnasium hosts physical education as the old opera house is replaced. The new cafeteria and music room opened with 410 students dining in the new facility and 256 in Jefferson cafeteria.

Radio station to skip Idaho state tourney broadcasts

D A Nash manager of KPST says the Idaho state class A 1 basketball tournament in Pocatello March 7 10 will not be broadcast. A $600 fee imposed by the state board of controls for athletic events makes small stations unable to cover the games.

Six women attended two sessions of the American Cancer Society training school held Friday and Saturday. The event prepared participants for a decal program at the local school.

At the Utah Power & Light sponsored appliance dealers meeting in Franklin county courthouse on Wednesday February 15, Kenneth Porter welcomed 732 attendees. Mayors, chamber officials, and regional hardware reps joined as Mr Holt projected 1956 electrical sales would top 1958, noting more home construction and color appliances would drive replacements and rising wiring needs.

The West Side Pirates start at Grace in a basketball tournament at 8 p m tomorrow. Eastside school district reports cannery output and sale

At a recent Eastside school district board meeting the Franklin cannery operations were reviewed and a report by Lincoln Orme noted 78000 cases of food processed last year, the lowest in years due to summer repairs. The union tankers was sold to Larry Hobbs of Franklin for 2751 dollars on February 15. The building had been appraised at 2500 dollars.

Mr and Mrs James J Doviganl observe their golden wedding anniversary with family at their home in Springs. Born 1904 and 1885 respectively, they immigrated to the United States in 1905. A list of two daughters and several grandchildren is noted.

Idaho Official Ad Idaho Official Ad Funeral Services Held in Boise

Funeral services were held today in Boise for Ina Masters, Idaho's secretary of state, who died of cancer Sunday at Bethesda. State offices closed from 10 a.m. to noon for the funeral at Hirst Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. The National Guard escorted the body from Pocatello to Boise.

Panel Discussion Planned by PATA AL High School

The PATA AL High School parent teachers association will host a panel discussion in the auditorium on Monday evening March 5 at 8 o clock. Keith Christensen the program chairman urges parents to submit questions in writing to him care of McCune Motor Co to be studied for concrete answers. A large turnout is hoped for and the panel will include seven or eight business men parents and teachers.
