Farmers in Dayton area vote for preliminary Five Mile study

Dayton area farmers in the Five Mile watershed voted Friday to request a federal preliminary survey and cost estimates for a complete control program. The vote followed three meetings run with county agent and Soil Conservation Service staff to outline the plan and funding steps for a flood control district.

Easter Seals Drive Sets Idaho Goal At 47500

The Idaho Easter Seal Society aims to raise 47500 through a statewide drive running through Easter Sunday. Oscar W. Nelson of Coeur dAlene leads the organization which serves crippled and handicapped children via mobile speech and hearing programs and county trustees. Last year over 3000 Idaho children received help. the national effort involves 52 state societies aiding 122319 children nationwide.

Two day cutter race meet drew large crowds as the Rocky Mountain Cutter Assn clashed with the All-American Cutter Assn. Don Nield of Aston Wyoming beat Seth Gregory of Lewiston Utah when Bing K. quit near the finish. The mare died minutes later from internal bleeding.

Heath Reelected President of Idaho Credit Group

Thomas Heath was re elected president of the Eastern Idaho Production Credit Association at annual meetings held in Pocatello Preston and Idaho Falls during the week of February 15. Officers named include Carlyle Chattin vice president Clarence Hart secretary treasurer Ly 3B Squires and A Duns Collard and C P Tucker as assistant secretaries treasurers. The farm loan business has grown from the early days of 1984 to exceed 12 4 million dollars to farmers in eastern Idaho, providing needed credit for production.

Preston Idaho to Form National Guard unit

The Idaho National Guard plans formation of a Preston unit, including Howitzer Company second battalion 116th Cavalry, with two motorized 105mm gun carriages and other equipment assigned. Maj. Open House Planned for Preston Residents Co Peterson

An open house is set for March 4 honoring Mr and Mrs George Co Peterson of Preston and Mr and Mrs Francis Clayton of Del Paso Heights California, former Preston residents. The observees, born in 1882 and 1888 respectively, moved from Logan to Bear Lake County as children and later to Glen dale. Peterson helped build the Glen dale reservoir and served as director of the Preston Whitney Irrigation Co for 19 years. He was president of the Cub River Cattlemen's Assn for 12 years and worked as a road supervisor for eight years. Mrs Peterson has taught in the Re Het society for 45 consecutive years and served as Sunday school and Primary teacher. They have one son Elmo c Peterson and several grandchildren. Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 3 to 7 pm. no gifts requested.

Knudson couple observes 53rd wedding anniversary

The Knudson family honors Mr and Mrs Christian Knudson on their 53rd anniversary with an open house Sunday from 3 to 9 p m at Virgil Knudson's home 162 South Third East Preston. They were married March 4 1903 in the Logan LDS temple. They have two sons two daughters 23 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
