Franklin County Trustees Confirm Leaders in Meeting
E A Jensen was re elected to serve as chairman of the Franklin County Trustees association with Claude Keller Mink Creek and Ben Buttars West Side district as vice chairman and secretary respectively at a meeting in the Franklin County courthouse last Monday evening. Discussions on school reorganization and finance led by Mark Hart county superintendent of public instruction and Harland Simmons superintendent of Preston city schools resulted in a resolution to request House bills 138 and 340 support. Trustees authorized officers to evaluate status of pending lunch program legislation and to pursue steps to restore the program. For school reorganizaton, one trustee from each district will meet with the county superintendent when Senate bill 59 passes to form a county committee to propose a comprehensive plan for county wide school district reorganization ahead of January 1 1948.

Preston Legion boxing show set for high gym Monday night
The Preston American Legion post hosts its second boxing show in the area at the high school gymnasium Monday at 8 30 p m. Local star Ronald Baird meets Kim Kimball of Salt Lake in a 175 pound bout and Newt Merrill of Preston faces Melvin Smith at 140 pounds. Salt Lake’s Keith Johnson battles Ben Harris at 140 and Gene Chatterton takes on Bert Williams at 118. Other matches include Ray Louse Johnson vs Billy Howe and Jimmy Carter vs Johnny Acock with Dilly Morrison in another bout as the program features eight matches.

Merrill Gee family leaves for Germany
Mrs Merrill K Gee and her two children Rae and Valone depart by ocean liner to join Mr Gee in Germany. He is an attorney assisting in war crimes trials and will stay about a year. The family will reside in Wiesbaden during their overseas assignment. Prior to service he was an assistant to attorney John Caryer of the federal court at Boise.

New Wynn Hardware Store Changes Hands
New owners Glenn W. Godfrey of Provo and Harold S. Hansen take over Wynn Hardware this week. The firm continues under the same name and will offer hardware and sporting goods. Godfrey, back from U S Army service in Europe in 1946, has worked with Wynn Hardware since then. Hansen has 15 years with Mountain States Implement and four years as Preston branch manager.

Dairy Production High in Franklin County Association Report
Franklin County Dairy Herd Improvement officers spoke at the farm bureau institute. 29 farmers listed 171 cows with records showing 2,323,090 pounds of milk and 72,535.8 pounds butterfat, average per cow 11 169 pounds milk and 348.8 pounds butterfat, value per cow 315.11 dollars. Elmo Beckstead owns the highest testing cow, Henry Drury second, and Drury also has the top herd over 12 cows with an average 403.4 pounds butterfat.

Franklin County reports the March of Dimes drive raised $1 600 89 to date, the largest tally yet, with $470.60 from Jaycees and additional gifts from Elks Club Lions Club and local schools and groups. Funeral services for Mrs. Lorna Jackson Winward, victim of an automobile accident near Pocatello early Tuesday, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Weston chapel under Bishop Maurice Tingey. A former Weston and Preston resident, she was the daughter of Mrs. Frank Shrives and wife of W W Winward of Whitney. They resided here until several years ago when Mr. Winward joined the Union Pacific railroad. One daughter survives.

Reunions Planned By Various Wards for Saturday
Reunions are announced for Washington's birthday weekend across Linrose and Preston wards. End of the line ends Preston Utah Idaho Electric line
The Prestoni Utah Idaho Central electric line ended service with the last train to Ogden on a February order by Federal Judge Tillman D. Johnson. The line had operated since 1915, suffered financial losses, needed repairs, and caused local disruption to yards and the milk factory. A truck delivery substitute and continuing bus routes from Ogden to Preston and Logan will replace rail service.

Ramrod to Premiere in Salt Lake City and Preston
The film Ramrod starring Joel McCrea and Veronica Lake will premiere in Salt Lake City at the Grand theatre and also open in Preston at the Grand.
