Mullan Idaho’s Mining Boom and 1910 Fire Rebuilt Town
The mining town of Mullan grew after the Gold Hunter mine opened a lead and silver strike by George Good. By 1888 the village had 20 log and 155 frame houses, a sawmill, and 150 residents. Named for Captain John Mullan, it joined the railroad in 1889 and incorporated in 1904, later rebuilt after a 1910 fire.

Pressure-Cooked Potatoes Retain Vitamin C Better
University of Idaho extension reports show pressure cooking potatoes preserves more vitamin C than boiling. Tests at North Carolina and Montana stations found 83 percent retention with eight minutes under pressure versus 75 percent or less with ordinary boiling. Cooking in the jacket and minimal water helps thrift-conscious households maximize potato nutrients.
