Dean B Sharp Named Finalist In Explorer Event
Dean B Sharp son of Mr and Mrs Lyman Sharp Whitney was among six finalists in Cache Valley council outstanding explorer selection. He was interviewed in Logan with five other Valley youths. Kip Thorne and George Skidmore of Logan won. Sharp is an eagle scout with the gold explorer award and has attended Bridger hikes and two summer camps.

Drury Farm Earns Progressive Breeders Award Honor
Henry Drury & Sons repeat as Holstein-Friesian Association of America progressive breeders award recipients. Only 293 dairies nationwide have earned it, with eight Idaho farms honored. The award requires excellence in production, type, herd health, and home-bred development. Drury’s last production test, as of April 30, 1955, shows a 22 cow herd averaging 13,722 pounds of milk and 493 pounds of fat.

A half day session at the Franklin county courthouse next Tuesday at 1 30 p m will train local cabbage growers for the 1956 canning season. New Snow Machine Used On Franklin County Snow Courses
A new snow machine was used for the first time on five Franklin county snow courses to obtain Feb. 1 readings. Jack Harwood and Lee Groesbeck of the soil conservation service led the survey with district supervisors financing the machine. Readings show snow depths and water equivalents at Strawberry Mink Creek Divide, Mink Creek, Strawberry Creek Willow Flat Cub River Ranger Station. Ground is saturated with water and conditions are above normal for this time of year. readings were taken despite extreme low temperatures.

About 500 attended the Franklin County Fish and Game Association banquet at the new high school gym. L. S. Forsgren was reelected president with Deward Gambles as vice president and Richard Tufts as secretary-treasurer. Directors elected included Kenneth Oliverson district 3 Clifford Whitehead district 2 and Bill Condie district 7. A total of 405 ballots were cast as officials thanked donors for support, helping make the event a success.

Three youths admit theft of auto accessories
Sheriff says three youths aged 17 and 19 admitted thefts totaling about 300 dollars. They appeared before Probate Judge Merrill, fined 25 dollars each, had licenses suspended 60 days, and received a 60 day 10:30 p.m. curfew. Equipment stolen included hubcaps fender skirts from McCune Motor Co. and Cranney Chevrolet Co. lots and private cars.

Cub River Stockmen Elect Officers At Annual Meeting
The Cub River Stockmen's association held its February 3 meeting in the Franklin county courthouse basement to elect officers and discuss grazing on the forest allotment in Cub River canyon. George Burbank LaMonte Larsen and Ralph Porter were elected for two-year terms. Alvin Beckstead and Guy Petterberg will serve another two-year term. The group reviewed range improvement work with the forest service including fences stock watering points and reseeding efforts to manage cattle grazing and removal during peak seasons.
