Preston's Ford dealership honored with Ford four letter award for attainments in finances management spirit and facilities. E F Nieman of Ford Motor Co. presented the honor at Randall's Blue Room dinner attended by local employees. The Me Cana V organization has won the four letter honor twice. About 20 employees now work in the dealership since its October 1935 purchase by Mr McCune.

Mapleton student wins Christmas poster contest at Preston
Evelyn Knapp of Mapleton won first prize in the annual Christmas poster contest sponsored by the Preston Junior Chamber of Commerce. More than 80 posters were submitted by East and West Side districts. Prizes went to Brent Wilson of Fairview second Nadine Oliverson of Whitney third and Joan Johnson of Preston fourth with four runners up. At the University of Idaho a benefit event titled Bill Choules Night featured Chuck Finley All Stars versus Preston Brimhall’s Bums with a 40 minute game ending 95 95. The event raised 1 242 883 for medical expenses of Bill Choules a Preston native severely injured in a car crash near Sandpoint. He remains in Spokane Veterans Hospital wheelchair bound awaiting recovery and hopes to be home by Christmas.

Preston Indians basketball team defeated Grantsville 31-26 in Utah and outlasted East High 42-40 at the University of Utah. Bob Fulton led East High with 18 points, Charles added 12, while Preston's team built a 5-0 start and held an 8-7 edge after one quarter. Mrs. Ida Rankin Hawkley of Franklin died Tuesday morning at her daughter’s home in Pocatello. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2 pm in the Franklin ward chapel. Friends may visit her brother James Rantoin’s Franklin home Saturday morning from 10 o'clock until service time. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery.
