A 1951 outlook predicts farm income averaging at least 1950 levels amid higher planting quotas to combat inflation. Government controls may curb credit and industry while civil production shifts toward armament. International trade expected modest growth with tariff pressure and continued stockpiling shaping prices.
The Pres ton Elks lodge distributed 75 Christmas baskets filled with fruit food candy flour potatoes and toys to families from Richmond south to Lava Hot Springs north. Lodge members and their wives organized filling and delivery with help from the Preston chamber of commerce and local merchants who donated toys and candy.
In this issue the Citizen reprints Roger W. Babson's annual business and financial forecast. The piece surveys 60 topics including general business, prices, taxes, retail trade, labor, deficits, stocks, real estate, and politics. Babson claims an 81 percent accuracy for 1950 and an average 87 percent over 15 years.
Douglas Palmer Ted Bergquist and Perry Sant traveled by train from Dayton to Sun Valley for a weekend at Challenger Inn as guests of The Deseret News. They rode the large stilif saw stars Van Johnson and Rosalind Russell obtained autographs and snapshots before returning home on Christmas Eve.

Mrs. Sarah Whitehead Espicik, 54, of Cornish Utah, died from injuries after an automobile crash near Ida. Espick and her husband were visiting a daughter and family over the weekend. She was born April 5, 1886 in Careyville and survived by several sons, daughters, and spouses. Funeral arrangements announced next Tuesday.
Miss Mary Lou Kidd will be honored at a farewell party Sunday evening January 5 in the Weston second ward chapel at 8 o'clock prior to joining the mission home in Salt Lake City. She will serve as a missionary for the LDS church in the Northern California mission field. She will enter the home January 8 for training. Miss Kidd is the daughter of Mrs Myra Kidd and has worked the last two years for the American Food store in Preston.
Power men worked in heat and cold to unload ice for a Christmas delivery. Crews faced tangled lines, broken wires, and slipping safety issues as they moved crates and poles, risking delays and injuries.
Fighter Rex Layne headlines a January 3 card at the Utah State Agricultural College arena. The program includes three tackle acts and vaudeville numbers with Roscoe Grover of KSL serving as host. acts travel from Salt Lake City toward Cache Valley for the show.
Tom Heath cites a fair sugar import quota set at about eight million tons for 195, a figure announced by Charles F. Brannan. He notes the quota aims to maintain adequate stocks without price increases amid wartime conditions. Heath warns the real issue is sugar availability and distribution if war disrupts supply.

Albert M Filson arrived this week and rented a home for his family while妻 Mrs. and four children relocate from Idaho Falls. The business markets storm windows and roof siding protection as it grows its local presence.
