Christmas Poster Winners Named in Preston Contest
Winners announced this week in the annual Christmas poster contest sponsored by the Jaycees Preston division. In Preston High School the first place went to Lee Ann Carlson, second to Jack Scholes, and third to Meridian Foster with honorable mentions to Teonard Davis, Wayne Coburn, and Darlene Gibson. Preston Junior High winners were John Hart first, Larry Cordingly second, Kathy Edgley third, with Jack Johnson earning honorable mention.

Youths With Stolen Car Are Picked Up Here
Two Californians from Rialto bound over to federal court on a charge of transporting a stolen vehicle across state lines. Delano Manning 18 and Henry Carter 20 admitted tying up a car owner near Barstow and leaving him in the desert before fleeing in Needles resident Charles Williams’ car. They gave conflicting stories to officers before waiving preliminary hearing in Pocatello and posting 2500 bond. Trudie Ark Davis won the Jay-Cettes doll contest at Johnson Drug Store.

Franklin Ward Choir to Present Christmas Cantata Sunday

Hunters Kill 160 Pound Cougar After Long Chase
Local hunters Carl Felix Clinton Hale of Logan and Dave Theo Smith Riverdale tracked a 160 pound cougar that attacked livestock. After a two to four mile pursuit in rough canyon terrain the animal treed twice and was finally killed when ropes failed and guns were used. Tracks were found Sunday by Lew Maughan.

State Police Film Offered to Clubs and Schools
The Idaho State Police present an 18 minute film showing a simulated state police chase. Organizations or schools must provide a 16 mm projector. the film, shot this year in Boise and northern Idaho, will be shown by appointment a week in advance. Patrolman Barfus will accompany the film. Officials include Paul Todd, Dewey Farmer, Hugh C. Maguire, and Judge Martin.
