Mr and Mrs Andrew E Fuhriman of Franklin observe their 59th wedding anniversary on Sunday in Logan. It is also Mr Fuhriman's 85th birthday. He was born December 4, 1871 in Providence Utah. Mrs Fuhriman, a Farmington native, has long served in LDS church and community groups. The couple has six children, 17 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Adult Farm Repair Classes Planned at Preston High
The Eastside School District and State Vocational Agriculture department sponsor a three week adult class in farm machinery repair at Preston High School. Starting December 26, farmers may bring machinery for repair, painting, and overhaul. The course, led by Lincoln A. Orme, offers free use of shop tools and will run three days weekly, with duration adjustable.

Manning Receives Air Force Wings At Laredo AFB
Lieutenant Darrell Manning, son of Mr and Mrs Virgil Manning of Preston, earned the silver wings of a jet pilot at Laredo Air Force Base Texas. The milestone capped 644 months of pilot training including service in both propeller and jet aircraft. Manning, who married Rochell Cole of Preston, graduated from Utah State Agricultural College at Logan in 1955 with a zoology major and received his commission through Air Force ROTC.

Alfred E Wells Dies at 68 in Preston After Long Illness
Alfred E Wells aged 68 died Tuesday December 4 at Preston hospital after an extended illness. He was born July 12 1881 in Preston son of Ephraim and Sisley Wells and lived there most of his life farming before retirement. He married Bessie Taylor June 30 1909 in the Logan temple. Surviving are his wife three sons four daughters twenty seven grandchildren three great grandchildren seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Friday at 1 pm in Oneida stakehouse by Bishop Howard Auger burial in Preston cemetery.

Local and national beet growers gather for the annual meeting of the National Beet Growers Federation in Boise. For the first time since 1948 government quotas allow beet sugar to meet part of rising domestic demand. Weather observer M. Crabtree of the U S Weather Bureau reports 18.1 inches of snow this month with 1.36 inches of precipitation, 0.25 inch below normal for December. Four nights below zero were recorded, including December 8 to 12 below. Last year no nights below zero in November had been recorded, despite three nights below zero in November 1955.
