Preston High School begins Tuesday September 1 at 9 a.m. with a full faculty including J Neff Boothe back from a two year LDS mission and Juni us Hamblin in the speech and drama department. Registration is not required this fall. all students report to classrooms. The $12 fee covers book rental locker rental and a $7 activity fee for events and publications.

The 60-person bus party left Logan August 3 visiting historic Mormon sites and touring Chicago. A volunteer air reserve unit is being organized in Preston with a meeting at the courthouse Monday evening. Interested men should contact Capt. Charles A. McDonald at the highway department office in the courthouse or attend the meeting at 8 p.m. The program is voluntary and nonpay, open to former Air Force members and current AFR personnel, with active duty possible only in a national emergency. Reservists may obtain promotion information during the meeting.

A 10 year old girl Myrna Smith daughter of Mr and Mrs Merlin Smith drowned during a Sunday school party at Downata hot springs after diving into the pool. Gary Golightly of Preston spotted her body underwater and artificial respiration was started before a Downey doctor pronounced her dead at 12 10 AM. She was active in 4 H and music and would have entered the sixth grade at Jeffer.
