Buddies Reunited as Idaho POWs Released in Korea
Pfc Wayne Cottle was freed in April after being a prisoner of war in Korea. He left behind three Idaho boys, Dale Smith of New Plymouth Nyle Jones of Twin Falls and Robert Winsor of Idaho Falls, all once prisoners in the same camp. The three are among the first Idaho captives to be released in the exchange.

New Tennis Courts Built at City Park
The Preston Elks lodge and many individuals and firms helped construct two 80 by 120 foot concrete tennis courts for the city park. The Elks donate the courts to the city recreation commission and plan to flood them in winter for skating. Floyd Diderickson of Preston Lumber Co supplied concrete at cost and provided mixing and hauling free.

Davis McEntire Family Visits Preston Before Europe Trip
Mr and Mrs Davis McEntire and their children from Berkeley California stayed several days in Preston visiting his parents Mr and Mrs Wells McEntire. Davis McEntire a UC Berkeley statistics professor travels to Europe for a year of research on Italian population problems funded by a Guggenheim grant. He is a Preston High School and Utah State College alumnus with Harvard training. Mrs McEntire is Iras Leavitt, daughter of James O Leavitt of Seattle formerly of Ogden.

Ground Observers Earn Certificates for Air Defense Service
Six men in Franklin county received certificates and wings from the ground observance corps of the air force command after extensive civilian defense training. Franklin Youth Injured in Fall From Scaffold
Two Franklin youths Bartlett Hill and Max Atkinson were injured when a scaffold under construction at the Lever Doney farm gave way Saturday morning. Hill suffered a compound fracture of the left arm and a fractured left leg, while Atkinson sustained a badly bruised knee and was released from the hospital. Hill was taken to Preston by ambulance and later to a Salt Lake City bone specialist. his arm remains in poor condition and he faces an indefinite stay at LDS Hospital.
