Idaho Wool Pools Expand To Boost State Output

Hart said sheep numbers could rise using wastelands and ditch banks now with new weed and willow growth. The American Wool Council notes domestic supply falls short of civilian and army needs. Idaho has 10 wool pools marketing 862,391 pounds at an average price of 49.89 per hundred. Pools preferred individual clip grading, boosting growers' returns. Counties replacing old ewes with young stock achieved higher averages, 54.07 versus 47.05.
