The Franklin County fair opens for a three day run at the fairgrounds with 4 H clothing nutrition rural electrification weed and garden forestry exhibits on display. Judging begins today at 10 am for various 4 H contests including dairy livestock flowers and horse pulling with events scheduled through Saturday evening. A Bonneville Gladiolus Society show is also held with prize money and a special cash prize for best gladiolus. many exhibitors are expected from Provo and nearby areas.

Elvin Cutler was reselected county chairman at a reorganized Republican central committee meeting held last Friday. Thomas Heath was reelected state committeeman from Franklin County and Hattie Greaves became state committeewoman replacing T R Bowden. Mrs A G Carlson named head of the county Republican women and County Auditor Cleo Swenson elected secretary of county precinct committeemen. The group planned a Tuesday gathering of all Republican candidates to finalize campaign plans. The state convention in Boise will elect a state chairman and vice chairwoman with the GOP platform to be discussed. Senator Watkins of Utah will keynote. Pfc Leonard Brostrom Honored At Preston Rites
The remains of Pfc Leonard Brostrom killed October 28 1944 in Leyte Philippines were honored at Preston cemetery. A Marine Eagle ship was renamed Pfc Leonard Brostrom in his memory. Attendants included Gen Mark Clark’s representative Col Crews and Gov Robins aide James Bangs, with military rites by American Legion Post 34 and sixth army. Survivors include brothers Dean and Dale in the U S Navy and other relatives.
