Franklin County Farm Bureau Opens Fair Today Aids Fun Day
A large Franklin County Farm Bureau crowd attended the fair opening this morning to view exhibits and join Farm Bureau events. Attendance prizes were drawn at 1:19 am, followed by a girls softball game between Fairview and Riverdale stakes. Lunch served, with Albert Moser as eating program chair. Afternoon events included junior talent show, races, tractor driving, livestock scrambles, baseball, and watermelon feast. The day closed after final judging and a large turnout for the 45 club style show at Preston High School auditorium with 210 clothing club members participating.

Eastside district to start school year with bus, safety rules
The Eastside school district begins Monday September 5 with a teachers meeting at the high school auditorium at 9 am. Students report Tuesday morning for classes as bus routes continue. All teachers must have a chest X ray within six months and bus drivers need a physical and chauffeur license. Buses inspected September 1 by Idaho state patrol. Roy Ware and others prepare the fleet in the new garage. School facilities receive sealing, painting, acoustic tile, new seating and benches.
