Utah Power plans 75 000 kilowatt Salt Lake City plant
Utah Power and Light announces a 10.5 million dollar expansion with a new 75 000 kilowatt plant in Salt Lake City to extend the 66 000 kilowatt unit now under construction on Navajo Street west of the Jordan River. Construction starts fall 1951 or spring 1952 with a 1 700 psi steam pressure and 1000 degree Fahrenheit temperature. The project is part of a 61 million dollar postwar program including a 44 000 kilowatt unit at Provo Canyon and a Hale station unit, with the company stressing ample power for peacetime and potential wartime needs. The plant will use 70 000 gallons per minute and feature an 85 foot turbine bay extension and a 2500 foot stack.

Albin Wicklund 75 Well Known Carpenter Dies in Preston
Albin Wicklund a longtime Preston Idaho carpenter died last Friday at his home 30 West Second North after an extended illness. He was born in Sweden March 25 1875 immigrated at age 18 and settled in Preston in 1913 to help build Jefferson School. He married Eliza Snyder in 1920 she died in 1930. he married Reddie Hendricks in 1935. He is survived by his widow and two stepsons Veil Hendricks Idaho Falls and J Andrew Hendricks Rigby. Burial was in Logan cemetery with Webb mortuary handling arrangements. Graveside services were conducted by BPOE Lodge No 1670 of which he was a member.

Frederick Nelson 63 died Saturday afternoon at the Mink Creek family home from a heart ailment. Life resident of Mink Creek born July 24 1887 son of Fang Land and Anita Nelson. Survived by widow a son Russell and two daughters Gloria Jensen Mink Creek Murial Nye Clearfield nine grandchildren nine siblings. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. Mink Creek ward chapel conducted by Bishop J Lloyd Christensen. Burial in Mink Creek cemetery.
