County Fair horse show rescheduled to Saturday pull events
The Bear Lake County Fair in Monpelier shifts the horse show to Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. with drafts saddle and American Saddlers judged at 10 a.m. Superintendents Charles Sparrow and Paul Nash cite exhibitor demand for horse pulling events as the reason. Entries and exhibitor check in run from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday August 31.

Local Boys Play on Teams Going to Salt Lake
Mr and Mrs Leland Sheeley Chatterton and Mr and Mrs Hobbs attended the regional championship softball game in Burley where their sons Dale Chatterton and Richard Hobbs played. Both boys work in Boise and their teams Boise Seventh ward Avak ward earned entry to the all church tournament in Salt Lake City. The Boise Seventh ward team has won the stake district and regional games, while Le Grande Chatterton of Blackfoot plays for Blackfoot sixth ward which also qualified for the Salt Lake City tournament.

Maj Frank Mockli, World War II and Korean War veteran, is on active duty during the summer at the U S largest Marine Corps base in Twentynine Palms California. He and his staff train units for two weeks focusing on artillery, anti air craft, grenades, rocket launchers, machine guns, and rifle marksmanship. Mockli, son of Henry Mockli and former local athlete, formerly taught mathematics at Downey High School in California and lives with his family at 5718 Suinfield Avenue Lakewood.

Last Monday night Preston city employees honored C J Gott at a picnic in the Preston recreation park. Gott, retired as city clerk and chief of the fire department after 38 years of service, was presented a 14 carat pin by former associates. A steel dinner was served to 45.

The Farm Bureau talent find at Franklin County showcases senior and junior divisions.
