Clyde Fifield Receives Discharge From Army

Pear Workers To Hold Dance At Franklin High Gym
The California Packing plant at Franklin will close for the summer run Friday and the annual pea dance for all who have grown or assisted in the harvest and processing of the pear will be held next Wednesday in the Franklin high gymnasium. States' Rites Held To-Day for Dr Gilbert W States
Dr Gilbert W States longtime physician and Salt Lake City resident died Monday July 30 after a lingering illness. Born October 17 1875 in Denmark Michigan he practiced in Franklin Idaho and Preston Idaho before retiring due to ill health. Funeral services will be held Thursday August 2 in Salt Lake City. He married Emma Mae Parker in Glenwood August 26 1903 and was active in civic affairs as an early Idaho Board of Governors member.

Excellent results are reported from the Franklin County Red Cross swimming course at Logana Plunge. Two buses carry over one hundred boys and girls from Preston on Tuesdays and Fridays, with Harland Simmons driving and Virginia Callan supervising.
