Music Man comes alive on Preston High outdoor stage

The Northern Cache Valley Theatre Guild presents The Music Man, directed by Joan J. Smith with about 50 local performers. Joe Cherrington stars as Howard Hill in a three night run at 8:30 p.m. nightly, with tickets $2 and seating for 450.

40th Annual Famous Night Rodeo in Preston

Clouds cleared for the 40th Famous Night Rodeo in Preston with top RCA cowboys like Tom Ferguson and Dean Oliver competing. Friday through Sunday saw arena records, near crowd records, and prizes totaling $7,570 with total gate near $27,000.

1975 Franklin County Fair plans taking shape

Lee Bergquist says preparations are underway with buildings grounds premiums and awards being lined up. Grain sheaf selection and grain judging are urged along with Idaho Wheat Grower Awards. 4-H FFA and superintendents invite wide exhibits and the fair aims for a pleasant 1975 event with events including Style Revue Old-Time Fiddlers and a horse pulling show.

Preston Telephone Exchange Gains 159 Telephones

The Preston exchange added 159 phones in the first half of 1975 bringing total to 3,242. Dayton grew 35 to 582 and Franklin 18 to 29. Gus Mink, Mountain Bell manager, says growth is healthy and plans ahead for regional telecom development through house counts and builder consultations.

Pirettes and Equistri Anns Win Prizes at Preston Night Rodeo

West Side High School Pirettes win first place in the 40th Annual Famous Preston Night Rodeo parade drill with 220 points earning top prize. Preston High Phi Dels take second with 202 points and Grace High Devilettes third with 195. Honorable mention to Cokeville Wye High Pantherettes. Equistri Anns win 4-H horse competition led by Jay Hansen second place Horse Shoe group and third Sky Riders Kim Hollingsworth. Parade judges name best clown act as the Nelson children. Norman Fife wins Best family entry. Wellsville froat honors with Richmond second and Sky View Spanish Club third. Best commercial entry goes to Lynn Porter. Special thanks to Dr Orson Bowler and Mark Wilcox for Preston band appearances. Franklins and Clydesdales also noted. Senior Citizens host dinner at new center in American Legion Hall. 67 entries Thursday, 50 Friday, 75 Saturday.
