LDS Missionaries Chosen for Pageant Roles at Cumorah
Two eastern state LDS missionaries from Franklin County are cast in the Hill Cumorah pageant America’s Witness for Christ to be staged Aug 7 8 and 9. J Neff Boothe portrays the Prophet Mormon and Paul B Winn aids housing and the Utah Centennial chorus participation. The pageant, on four levels on the hill, depicts scenes from the Book of Mormon and draws crowds from across the nation and abroad.

Franklin Farms Hit by Destructive Hail Friday
A severe hailstorm struck Franklin Friday causing heavy damage east of the village. Crops were wiped out on the Wallace Chatterton Jr. farm while a heavy downpour damaged other fields including Ossie and Cyril Lowe and several Wright and Woodward families. Water was cut off as the Chattertons cleared a clogged pipeline with neighbors’ help.

Barn and Old Car Lost in Two Fires
A barn at East Oneida owned by James C. Higgins was destroyed by two fires caused by exploding gas and oil. Firemen contained the blaze but vines on the house withered from heat. Damages around 2000 dollars. Earlier, an acetylene torch fire at Owen Casperson’s residence destroyed an old car valued at about 125 dollars.

Annual Junior Rodeo Set for August 30
The annual Myron Day junior rodeo is scheduled for August 30 at the South County fair tower arena. Young riders are invited to participate and a queen will be chosen with later announcement of the selection date. Thirty percent of gate receipts will fund an exhibit building for the county fair.

Ivan Felix and wife of Springville were in a 1951 Chevrolet that struck an Allis-Chalmers combine owned by Bud Thomas on Highway 34 in Riverdale Monday at 3 30 p m. The left front fender of the car and the cutter bar of the combine were damaged. No one was seriously injured. Sheriff Lee Hansen investigated.
