Killed in Action Kenneth Coburn and Max Choules
Two county men, Pfc Kenneth Coburn of Glencoe and Lt Max Choules of Fairview, were killed in action in Germany with War Department notification to families. Coburn, 28, previously missing, died February 10 in France after serving since 1941, survived by his mother and several siblings. Choules, 26, died April 9 from battle wounds, survived by his wife and parents.

Preston Lions Club hosted ArH Jatvbeel. 4 H Beef Stock boys at a weekly luncheon. Waldo Talbot Clifton gave the 4 H pledge, Claude Keller Jr spoke on his calves, Raylo Larson shared Jackson Hole experiences, and Amarillus Beckstead played a piano solo. A show halter prize sparked a judging contest ending in a three way tie. Johnson Drug funded a halter. Lions voted to add two more. Winning judges were Dwayne Van Leuvan Elmer Oliverson and Raylo Larson.

The Preston public schools board raises wages by 50 to 290 dollars with an emergency 390 to 400 dollar bonus for the 1945-46 year. Man narrowly escapes death after freight train crash at Weston
Jess Wheeler 40 of Preston survived a wreck when a westbound freight rammed the county patrol grader he drove. The cab and engine were torn, Wheeler was dazed yet able to exit the wreck and was treated for a chin cut and a wrist fracture. Sheriff Hansén and Union Pacific investigators continued the probe.

The Preston Lions Club marked its ninth anniversary with a semi formal dance at the Opera House Monday evening. The Dansante orchestra from Logan provided music and a floor show by USAC. President Earl Nelson led a grand march with eight past presidents, receiving white carnation boutonnieres.
