Preston voters go to the polls next Tuesday to elect a mayor two councilmen a clerk and a city treasurer. One councilman from each ward will serve four years while other offices are two-year terms. Polls open 9 am to 5 pm then 7 to 9 pm at the Library for the First precinct and Homer Implement on North State for the Second. Light interest expected with no opposition to incumbents including Mayor Edwin Crockett Dr S P Packer George Stanger Roy C Greaves and Lillie Benson.

Memorial Services For Lt Henderson At Swan Lake
Memorial services for First Lieutenant Eugene Henderson 22 will be held at the Swan Lake LDS church Sunday at 2 p.m. under Bishop Abbott. Henderson was killed at Iwo Jima March 4. Born in Swan Lake he attended local schools and USAC Logan Utah and the University of Denver before entering the Marines in 1943. He trained in Denver Fedlo Canary Aaland South Carolina and California and went overseas December 1944 with first combat at Iwo Jima. He is survived by his parents four brothers and one sister including Captain LaVell Henderson in France S/Sgt Ray Bonderson overseas Myron Dale and Rene Henderson of Swan Lake.

Rural Schools Elect Trustees in Franklin County
Taxpayers and residents of 16 rural school districts in Franklin County will elect trustees this Friday, April 20, to fill three year terms where needed. Most districts will name one trustee, but resignations and deaths may require two or three replacements. Elections run from 1 to 6 p m at each district schoolhouse with annual meetings starting at 1 p.m. and all residents invited.
