Franklin county schools launch a county wide clothes drive to aid liberated Europe. Farmers may leave bundles at the Preston chamber of commerce. students will bring clothes from homes to schools for pickup. All items must be clean except for coats and suits. Rotary and Lions clubs coordinate boxes and shipment to a central point. the drive ends April 30.

Annual Clean Up Delayed and Rescheduled to April 20
The City Clean-up and Paint-up Day has been postponed from Friday to April 20 due to bad weather. Swan Lake Boy Killed in Action on Iwo Jima
First Lt. Gene Henderson of Swan Lake and member of the 27th Marine Regiment Fifth Division was killed March 4 on Iwo Jima. Born in Swan Lake he trained in Denver Canary Island South Carolina and California and went overseas in December 1944. Survived by parents and four brothers and one sister, with several relatives listed in Swan Lake.

Two Hurt In Crash At Richmond
Two Prestoun women were injured in a head on collision about two miles south of Richmond. Mrs Pearl Shaffer 32 suffered fractures of both legs head and body lacerations while Mrs May Lillian Lowe 32 driver of the passenger car sustained a fractured right leg hip and body injuries. The truck was driven south by Grant Nelson 29 Logan and loaded with roofing equipment. His wife suffered lacerations of the head and right leg and possible internal injuries.
