Franklin County voters go to polls next Tuesday to decide a 200000 bond for a new addition to Preston High School. The project includes a band room and vocational spaces, with restoration plans for the 1884 academy building.
The Citizen presents an Q A interview with Dr Orson Bowler on the Eastside School District bond election. Bowler explains steps after a two-thirds vote, timelines for bids by June, and what happens if the measure fails. He notes property tax funding and court questions while defending the board’s decision to hold the election.
Eastside School District schedules a trustee election for zones 2 and 3 on May 20. Terms for Robert Lindhardt in zone 2 and Dr Murray Nichols in zone 3 expire. Candidate filings close May 2 at 5 pm with the district office. Zone 2 covers Treasureton Banida Winder and north Preston. Zone 3 covers most of Preston. Voting takes place at Oakwood Elementary School. Only zone residents who are Idaho qualified electors may vote.
William Nelson, curriculum advisor for LDS seminaries and institutes, will speak at Saturday night's Know Your Religion lecture. The session closes the winter series, beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for non season pass holders.
Uless Nash reported gas and a new cowboy hat stolen from his Linrose ranch on April 12. It is unclear who took the items. A Franklin County Senior Citizens dinner is set for Saturday at the Robinson Fairgrounds with a noon meal and a Pitcher family program from Trenton afterward. Attendees should bring their own utensils and plates.
The State seeks 80 acres on Little Mountain. Mayor Floyd Robinson Representative Angus Condie and Wayne Bell urge Franklin County to preserve for historical value. Commissioners vow to request transfer to Parks Department. The meeting also covers pay raises, road easement charges, weather modification joining, LEPC grant refund, and ambulance backup vehicle discussions.
Eleven young women compete for the Miss Franklin County crown at Preston High School. Lions Club sponsors the event with trophies and scholarships. A 2 p.m. tea and personal interviews with judges precede the program, with awards including a mink handbag and multiple scholarships.
