The Citizen's party in Preston unveiled plans for a final week campaign to elect R. B. Gibson mayor and Donald G. Elwell with J. Reid Hoggan to the city council. Gibson is a Salt Lake Elevators plant manager and former council member offering business like administration. Elwell and Hoggan, ages 38 and 32 respectively, bring local roots and wartime service to the slate while pledging to maintain current services without tax increases and to keep capable city workers.

District Festival Starrs Tomorrow
Preston High school will be well represented at the district music festival at Grace this weekend April 17 and 18, directed by Lyle Shipley and Lynn Bright. Entries include a 90 voice choir 50 piece band 100 voice mixed chorus a large girls chorus boys chorus school orchestra 12 vocal soloists three instrumental soloists two piano soloists two girls sextets two boys quartets a mixed quartet two girls trios a brass quartet string quartet and several instrumental and vocal duets. Fires Prompt Twice Callout For County Firemen
Fire department was summoned twice this week. Otis Cole’s south of Preston home saw a vacuum plug short and sparks ignite drapes, damaging carpet and window casing with about 100 dollars loss. A barn on Heber Winn’s property burned and was destroyed.

Deep Creek Planting Drive Starts With State Help
The Idaho State Fish and Game Department will begin a soil wash planting project near Deep Creek west of Preston. About 20 000 plants including black willow golden willow black locust hybrid poplar Russian olive and southern wood will be supplied and planted by the West Side High School FFA under department supervision. Department officials Robert Case beer and Al Kyler will lead with Dean Davis and local conservation officers assisting. Members of the county fish and game association join in support and public viewing is welcome.

No One Hurt as City Caps Busy Car Crash Week
Several people escaped injuries in three city automobile accidents this week. Police report more crashes this month than any other month this year. At Second East and Second South LaMar Cole halted at a stop sign when De Wayne Winn sideswiped and collided with Cole. Damages were $100 to the Cole car and $35 to the Winn car. Friday night on State Street Dallas T Taylor stopped for a pedestrian and Clark Johnson rear ended Taylor, causing $100 damage to Johnson and $50 to Taylor.

Over 200 FFA members dads and guests attended the annual Father Son Banquet in Frahitwa last Thursday featuring Stanley S. Richardson, former Idaho supervisor of agricultural education and now a USAC professor in Logan. He spoke on values of FFA and his pride in former students prospering as farmers. The program included invocation, songs, secretary report, Navajo war dances by two former members, a vocal solo, faculty quartet, officer introductions, a short movie, and new officer installation.

Five years of singing by the Dalley sisters ends when Geraldine Dalley Lewis, Elaine, and Margaret Dalley are disrupted as Geraldine’s husband Darr ell Lewis returns from a two year LDS mission. The trio had performed across the valley since 1951 after moving from Roberts to Dayton. Geraldine was 15, Elaine 14, and Margaret 11 when their harmony was first discovered.
