His twin Loyd Lewis was wounded and recovering at an advance naval hospital after their Iwo Jima service. Reed Lewis, their brother, has a ten day furlough from Ft. Sill and is at home with the family.

Mrs Ellen Bennett the first white girl born in Idaho to settle in the state died Tuesday April 3 at 84 after a long illness. She lived with her son Calvin Bennett in Logan who cared for her. Born October 6 1860 in Franklin she married Enoch Bennett December 27 1880 and moved to Lago then Franklin. The annual Franklin County Boy Scout Finance Campaign will open Monday April 9 with R R Rowell as chairman. A kickoff meeting for finance workers was held April 5 at 8:00 p m at the courthouse with N D Salisbury Henry Hurren and Preston Pond attending. The county quota is 2500 dollars with breakdowns by taxing units and stakes. The drive aims to run one week from April 9 to 14.
