Mel Poole's musical journey from Mobile to Stardust venues
A portrait of Mel Poole, a gifted pianist and tuba player discovered as a child prodigy in Mobile. From a 14 year old pro debut to a Air Force service, Texas Southern University training, and a long career in California venues, Mel's versatility spanned piano, tuba, jazz, and original compositions. The piece traces his marriage to Joyce Dawn, their children, and his ongoing performances at Rocco's and Sky Room while highlighting a broad club circuit and family life.
