Desert Highways Reopen After Flash Floods In California
Deserts in Southern California returned to normal after flash floods washed out sections of California 127 between Baker and Shoshone. Up to five inches of rain fell as a storm moved out, mud clogged a 10 mile stretch, and highway crews reopened the route. Breakers eight feet high and strong swells were expected along beaches as Hurricane Joanie spurred rough seas. Local temps rose with highs around the mid 70s to near 90s across Los Angeles area.
