Gum sweetener linked to cancer

Researchers at Stony Brook say preliminary reports from the U.S. Public Health Service indicate the sugar free gum sweetener Xylitol caused tumors in lab animals. A project with 300 sixth graders in the William Floyd district was halted after three days of chewing Xylitol gum, the maximum dose observed was nine sticks.

Fog slows Long Beach Freeway crash injures one

Dense fog snarled traffic on the Long Beach Freeway in Paramount early today as seven vehicles including five autos and a cotton truck piled up near Rosecrans Avenue.
