Two Douglas aircraft division executives urged rapid decisions to avoid obsolescence of air transport. They warned at the SAE meeting that cargo expansion and airport congestion require action within two to four years. Proposals include dedicated cargo airports 100 to 200 miles from passenger hubs and cargo specific aircraft with pure cargo ground facilities to cut costs and boost performance.
City Council in Cerritos approved in principle a 20 year parks plan prepared by Richard Bigler. It envisions a dozen two acre neighborhood parks and one major city park for a projected 60 000 population by 1968. It also calls for an 18 hole golf course and equestrian facilities while referring the plan to the Planning Commission. The council backed a zoning application for an equestrian center north of Artesia Boulevard east of the San Gabriel River. The center would include arenas trails stables and corrals with a minimum 1500 square feet per animal.
