L A police unisex height weight rule approved
The Los Angeles Police Commission approved an unisex standard requiring police officers and officers to meet equal height and weight for street patrols. Women must be at least 5 feet 8 and 140 pounds, raising job eligibility beyond the 5 foot 4 rule. The plan, backed by Chief Edward M. Davis, passed unanimously. Jackie Howell criticized the decision, noting two men under the height limit on patrol and a female civilian chosen for the survey team.
