Third ex JFK aide testifies in Pentagon Papers case
Economist John Kenneth Galbraith testified that it was inconceivable the Pentagon Papers could have aided the enemy in 1969, discussing a volume detailing the strategic hamlet plan from 1961 to 1963. He argued the program ended with Diem's death and had no relevance to 1969 policy. The testimony followed earlier accounts by Arthur Schlesinger Jr. and McGeorge Bundy about the volumes' outdated content. Burglars stole golf clubs and video gear from Recreation Park Pro Shop in Long Beach.
