Poor families' food costs rising less sharply than others
Washington AP reported USDA findings show inner city poor families faced slower food price increases over two years than affluent suburban households. Using 1967 as base, low priced foods rose 83% by 1976 while higher priced items rose 79%. 1975 and 1976 saw higher priced foods up more than low priced ones.
