Witness Testimony in 1971 Reed Slaying Trial Advances
A second eyewitness to the mutilation death of John C. Reed is set to continue testifying as four defendants face murder charges. Don Warry identified two suspects and aided with disposing Reed’s body after a prolonged beating and more than 30 slash wounds. Another witness corroborates Warry’s account, while a related case previously convicted Ronald Phelps. Prosecutors cite revenge as Reed’s motive and note prior narcotics testimony connected Reed to a drug arrest setup.
