Diplomat and 12 others indicted in grand theft conspiracy
A Mexican diplomat assigned to the Los Angeles consulate and twelve others were indicted on 14 counts of conspiracy to commit grand theft. Warranted arrests were issued by Superior Court Judge Raymond Choate after testimony from about 45 witnesses. The group is said to have targeted a widow, Mrs. Armulfo Lopez, in an insurance scam linked to a fatal Bakersfield traffic accident in April 1973.
