Bradley wins Los Angeles mayoral race amid school and council contests
Mayor Tom Bradley, at 59, claimed a clear victory with 59.4 percent as 94 percent of precincts counted. Alan Robbins trailed, opposing busing and hoping late returns from the San Fernando Valley would force a runoff. Four council seats were decided, three more head to a May 31 runoff, and school board incumbents also failed to clinch immediate reelection.
