City Council Keeps Meeting Minutes In City Office

Last night the city council at Recorder Logan's office met with all members present except Alder Scott and Wright. Nick Peay proposed a committee to survey sewerage costs with him. The street committee was assigned to oversee the project. The town treasury was ordered to be investigated by the Military Committee. The Culture Club petition to remove the park shed was approved and the shed sold and removed. Mayors urged warrants for delinquent street taxes. An ordinance set the city marshal salary at 25.00 per month. Geo W. resigned as nightwatchman effective when a successor is found.

Statehouse Turns Out for Beaneaters vs Little Rock Travelers

March 14 at Little Rock a large crowd, including Governor Pindall, attended the Southern League opener between the Beaneaters and the Little Rock Travelers. Officials enjoyed a spring outing as the governor, a noted supporter of Little Rock, is to receive a solid gold annual league pass to lead the Travelers’ rooting.

Evans to retire at San Francisco due to ill health

A San Diego dispatch reports Rear Admiral Evans announcing he will retire from command upon his arrival in San Francisco because of ill health. The same notice confirms that Rear Admiral Ryans will haul down his flag on arrival. The council adjourned to Stewart after business concluded.

Accident injures man as mule team bolts past store

This afternoon about 3 o clock Lee Hamilton son of Andy Hamilton of Albany township drove a team of mules. The animals grew frightened at a train and bolted down Elm Street. Hamilton was thrown in front of J B Jordan's store and serious internal injuries were reported. He struck his head and shoulders and remains in serious condition.
