Bryan Nominated at Democratic National Convention

The Denver convention adjourned after adopting the Fredensia Committee report by 887 to 615. Delegates heard resolutions paying tribute to Grover Cleveland as Oklahoma gains eighteen votes and Parker advocates push for unity amid party divisions.

Texas Delegation Backing Anti Injunction Plank for Bryan

In Denver on July 9 the Texas delegation endorses the anti injunction plank. They expect the Bryan plank to satisfy Gompers and Mitchell and prefer Mitchell for vice president unless Bryan expresses his own choice. Judge Brooks notes solid support for Bryan among Texas delegates.

Retail Lumber Dealers of Arkansas Elect Officers

The Arkansas Retail Lumber Dealers convention adjourned in Marion after a two day session. L. A. Buckner of Dermott was re elected president C M Dickinson of Paragould secretary and L R Putnam of Fayetteville vice president. The group planned next year’s meeting for Little Rock in June. A dinner reception and Forest Park trolley ride capped the event.

Weevils Threaten Ouachita County Cotton Crop

Camden reports show boll weevil damage across Ouachita County with a stalk stripped of squares and blooms. Residents urged to battle weevils by gathering fallen squares and continuing cultivation to save crops. A fire at Mrs Mamie Brown’s Washington Street residence destroyed the home late Sunday night.

Campbell Named Prohibition Attorney Candidate In 6th Circuit

A sub committee of the central democratic committee nominated Roy D. Campbell for prosecuting attorney of the 6th Judicial Circuit for the September election. The move follows the withdrawal of J A Gray, the remaining candidate, making the special primary unnecessary. Campbell serves the unexpired term of Lewis Rhoton, who resigned and retired from the race.
