New Railroad to be Incorporated in Arkansas

Local parties in Little Rock plan to form a railroad with eastern capital funding. The 25 mile line will run through Lawrence and Sharp counties, connect with the Frisco and St. Louis at Hoxie, and develop a major zinc field in the state.

State Democratic Central Committee Sets June 2 Convention in Little Rock

The Arkansas State Democratic Central Committee adjourned after a long day in Little Rock. The state convention will meet June 2 to nominate candidates for state offices and adopt the party platform. Delegates total 595, with Nevada and Sebastian counties gaining seats and Pulaski losing one. Prominent figures including Gov. candidates and state officials attended. The ruling structure from 1906 remains, with minor rule additions and continued centralization debate.

Arkansas Railroad Commission elects R Percy Allen chairman

Hon. R. Percy Allen of Van Buren is chosen president of the Arkansas Railroad Commission, succeeding Judge J. E. Hampton of Fordyce. Allen camps at Camden before taking the post, with no opposition for another term from the northwestern district. John W. Crockett of Arkansas county remains the other commissioner.

School Notes Note Absences And New Pupil Enrollment

Beth Roberts Elmore White and several others are absent this week. Ray Wylie joined as a new pupil on Monday. Examinations are over and reports are awaited. The 7th grade shows improvement with eight absences this month versus ten last month. Stella Powers is absent and the class tackles Arithmetic Bank Discount. Mr. Frank Jones visited the room Wednesday.
