In Wallaceburg on December 24 Claude Robertson, a white man, shot and killed a Black woman he had previous trouble with after she stabbed him multiple times. He fired after the assault, and none of his wounds were life threatening.
The Manufacturers' Record in its annual southern railroad review notes Texas built about 840 miles in 1908, with Arkansas, Virginia, Louisiana, and others following. Projections for 1909 show continued but uneven growth, while big railroads did little new construction and many fulfilled existing plans.

Authorities say four men confessed partial involvement, linking Keifer Sprague Cogote Phillips Oklahoma post office thefts and berged safes.
