Hope Presbytery Elected Moderator At Session Meeting
The Hope Presbytery gathered last Saturday at 8 o clock with Rev C Oakley elected moderator and presiding. Rev J M Alexander of Bell Presbytery Alabama joined as member and was assigned to pastor Hope and Prescott churches two Sundays monthly. Installation held Sunday with Rev N Clack and Rev D J Sossamon delivering charges. Presbytery name changed from Mound Prairie to Hope Presbytery. Next meeting set with Melrose church near Hope in July. Christmas Trees Train Shipment to Kansas City Observed
Maj F T Shepherd reported a solid train load of Christmas trees at Ashdown last Friday. The fifteen car train carried Young pines from wrist to forearm size destined for Kansas City. Local timber regions see large traffic. trees sell high nationwide. A shipment of casings for bridge piers for the Memphis Paris and Gulf road across the Little Missouri arrived, with more expected soon.

Poultry Short Course Features Winter Institute in Ames La
A winter course at the agricultural college in Ames La begins January 4 and covers poultry raising feeding breeding and management. Topics include winter egg production with eggs at forty cents a dozen poultry fattening and market ration construction of poultry houses incubators brooders and related practices. Prof H C Pierce leads the course assisted by Mr Lippincott both Cornell graduates with extensive poultry experience.

Not Sold at White Cliffs Cement Plant Sale
Ashdown December 22 The White Cliffs cement plant and realty holdings were not sold yesterday as advertised. No bidders appeared and the master in chancery will set another sale date. The property had been sold previously but the court refused to confirm and ordered a new sale date.

President-Elect Taft to Visit Texas and South
Augusta Ga Dec 23 President elect Taft plans a Texas visit after inauguration. Dallas will be a principal stop with thirty Texas cities inviting him. He may tour Atlanta and Charleston on the southern trip and land in New Orleans on return. He will ride as part of his daily exercise and meet southern officials and editors to press southern political ties.

Cemetery needs funds as holidays curb support
During favorable walking seasons the cemetery is well kept and supported by citizens, but holiday priorities and poor weather reduce interest and ease of funding. The cemetery association asks prompt payment of promised assistance, to be left with Mrs. W. T. Hart, president, or Mrs. E. K. Armistead, treasurer.

Thornton Hains Faces Prolonged Trial Proceedings

Rural phone line to connect county south and east
Wallaceburg December 23 reports a rural telephone line under construction to serve much of the southern and eastern county. It will connect with the old system via a switchboard at Dr. J. H. Phipps residence. Phones and equipment have been ordered.

Pike’s Lead and Zinc Deposit Reported in Pike County
The Nashville News learns that a zinc deposit of unusual richness has been found in Pike county. A company is being formed to develop the mines if possession is secured. The ore samples shown in The News office reportedly contain a higher zinc percentage than any previously discovered, with the deposit’s extent kept secret by investors awaiting transfer.
