Wade Fishermen Catch More Reds
Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists found that from September 1977 to March 1978 more redfish were caught by wading anglers than by boat anglers. Of 288 fishermen surveyed, 27 waded, 22 caught fish totaling 109 reds, while 261 boat anglers yielded 35 reds and 9 percent success. Reds averaged over two pounds, up from 1.25 pounds in 1976-77.

Hunger tops the list, followed by nesting-site protection during spawning, greed to deter smaller rivals, big fish guarding prime feeding spots, occasional gluttony with regurgitated stomach contents, provocation and reflex actions triggering automatic strikes in bass and other fish.

Props Vary to Aid Motor Boats
Propellers differ in size blade count and shape, and experts say small changes in blade geometry affect performance. Leading edge curves help tuck water in while trailing edges reduce drag. Some blades are cupped, bending inward to improve thrust, with the right design dependent on boat and motor.
