Country Woman's Club Hosts Bicentennial Meeting

The Country Woman's Club met at the Community Hall with members from six clubs as special guests. Faye Stevens opened the bicentennial gathering with a welcome, singing The Star Spangled Banner and the flag salute. Janice Saylor showed a film It Couldn't Be Done. The group closed with God Bless America and shared a lunch for 36 attendees.

Mrs Hulda Sagehorn came home after visiting York with the Ardean Kohtz family. Don Hanquist earned a 5 gallon pin for blood donated at the Stromsburg Blood Mobile. Mrs Phil Thomas and Shane of Holdrege were weekend guests of her parents, Gordon Fossberg and wife.

Polk Cubs Fall 6-0 Against Palmer Tigers

The Polk Cubs suffered their fourth loss, 6-0, against the Palmer Tigers in rain. A Cub fumble on the 28 yard line set up a Tiger score as Tony Retzlaff ran in from the ub 5. Palmer outgained Polk 114 to 56 yards. Guard Roger Brockevelt Tom and Bill Carlstrom and Randy Branting starred on defense. The Cubs aim to rebound at Clark’s next Friday night.

Mr and Mrs Conrad Lindholm visited Tuesday evening with Mr and Mrs Grant Johnson at Stromsburg. Sunday dinners and suppers were hosted by Mrs Minnie Miers and Henry Dittmer with Carl Blaser and Oscar Blaser of Columbus. Grand Island guests included Mr and Mrs Guy Blanchard for Wednesday supper at Orlie Miller’s. Don Miller and Arnold Neuhaus accompanied by their spouses attended Leigh for a Legion and Auxiliary District No 7 Fall Convention. M G Lindburg joined Enoch Peterson after church on Sunday. Oscar Sundberg hosted Friday evening coffee with Hannah Rodine, and they visited Parkview with Emma Johnson. Wilfred Stephens’ birthday brought family and friends from Lincoln to celebrate.
