Progress Office Moves to Bergman Building

A local Progress items roundup notes the Progress office will move this weekend to the Bergman building now occupied by Dr. Westfall. The move places the office in the north section of the building and keeps Dr. Westfall in his current quarters.

Legion Auxiliary Receives Merit Citation At Ashland Convention

The 35th annual Seventh District convention of the American Legion and Auxiliary was held in Ashland on September 18. The Auxiliary earned a Citation of Merit for the 1965 66 service and achievements. Mrs. Dwayne Miller’s compiled history placed third in the History Contest. The Unit won an Auxiliary charm for ranking among the ten units with the highest membership percentage by September 1.

Twenty one Polk American Legion and Auxiliary members attended the District Legion Convention at Wahoo on September 27 where District Commander Everett Green led the meeting. Mrs Lovette McCoy visited in Shelby at Rev R W Garretsons.

Navy crewman Deland Flodman in Ha ger Angler exercise

Chief Fire Control Technician Deland Flodman, son of Mr and Mrs Carroll Flodman of Polk, serves in a First Fleet unit as part of exercise Ha ger Angler. The mine drill, the third of the year, involves 29 ships from carrier to minesweeper and began September 13 to train ships for combat prep in the Western Pacific.

Lincoln Visitors Attend Family Gatherings and Wedding

Mrs. Leslie Adelson and Mrs. Ollie Johnson visited Lincoln on Friday. Granddaughters Cindy and Debbie Larson returned home with Mrs. Adelson. Sharon Larson of Lincoln stayed Monday with her parents. Weekend guests included Dale Hanquist and family and Hannah Hahn. Attendees at the wedding of Bill Kohl and Bonnie Fairbairn in Clark’s Methodist church included multiple Lindburg and Aker families and Harold Anderson. Red Oak and Stromsburg visitors joined weekend hosts.
