The Methodist Church hosted a large farewell dinner for Rev. E. Pengelly and his family after Sunday services with about 150 congregants. Rev. Longacre will fill the pulpit until next year. Pengelly leaves for Benkelman Nebraska to pastor there.
Ladies Aid Meeting at Methodist Church Highlights Youth Discussion
The Ladies Aid of the Methodist church met in the church parlors on Thursday afternoon with hostesses Mesdames Rolland Dahlin F W Metzgar Garnet Strand and Augusta Nelgon. Oscar Sundberg led devotions. Officers elected for the coming year include President Oscar Sundberg Vice President Albert Sundberg Secretary Rolland Dahlin and Treasurer Paul Strand. Freeman Johnson oversaw the program. Flying Fingers Club presented a year’s work and exhibited their crafts. Refreshments followed.

Polk County Agricultural Conservation Program Chairman Robert C. Taddiken reports that 1940 will see the largest farmer participation yet. By September 21 about 95 percent of farms signed wheat plans, 1,659 plans signed with 79 refusals. crop insurance reached 1,825 policies, up from 480. Farmers in compliance receive three checks: wheat parity, corn parity, and the soil building payment up to the farm allowance.
